Nadira Ilana is part of the vanguard, if not at the forefront, of East Malaysian filmmakers, bringing stories from Borneo to the rest of the nation. The 32-year-old was the first East Malaysian filmmaker to receive the Justin Louis Grant for her documentary, The Silent Riot, a political-historical documentary on the 1986 Sabah riots.

FILEM pendek Kadazan Ninavau telah mendapat penghargaan tertinggi di Festival Filem Antarabangsa Malaysia (MIFFest) 2019, di Kuala Lumpur, baru-baru ini.
Filem arahan dan ditulis oleh pembikin filem tempatan Bebbra Mailin diterbit oleh Nadira Ilana dari Telan Bulan Films dan dihasilkan bersama dengan kru dan pelakon dari Sabah.

After studying abroad, she moved to the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. People kept asking her how long she had “been in Malaysia” as though Sabah wasn’t part of the country.
